Visit to GETTYSBURG, PA

Wooden Fence how it looked in the 1800's
View from Little Round TopLittle Round Top was a strategic location because it overlooks much of the battlefield. The Confederates saw that the location was abandoned, so they tried to take this hill. The Federals discovered this at the same time, resulting in heavy casualties on both sides. The fighting was so fierce, there was hand-to-hand combat with bayonnets. After a long day in the second day of battle, the Union eventually took this hill.

The Union Cannons The Cannons used here were fired on the first day of the battle at Gettysburg. The heavy firing here resulted in 1,475 casualties.

Pennsylvania MonumentThis monument was the largest of all the states. All the Confederate and Union states contributed in this epic battle with the state of Pennsylvania suffering the heaviest losses. The Union army at this battle was made up 1/3rd of Pennsylvanian troops. At this memorial, the names of every Pennsylvanian that was killed here was inscribed into this monument.
